F.A.Q.s

Q:  How do I know if my child needs therapy?

You know your child best!  If you suspect your child has a problem with his or her development, it is highly recommended that you contact your pediatrician and TicTalkToes Therapy.  Although there are standardized developmental milestones, every child will acquire skills at a different pace.  Early detection greatly increases the chances for progress and for future success!  You can also visit the CDC's website for a list of developmental milestones.

Q:  Do you take insurance?

TicTalkToes is an Out-of-Network Provider.  At this time, we do not accept insurance and will not be responsible for billing insurance companies directly.  However, we will assist you in receiving reimbursement from your insurance carrier by providing you with a SUPERBILL, if requested in advance.  Click here to find out more about what a superbill is and have some FAQs answered!

Q:  What are your service fees?

We offer various types of therapy sessions at different lengths.  Fees will vary based on these factors.   Fees vary based on type of program (i.e., individual/group) as well as length of session.  We do offer sliding scales to families based on their financial circumstances.  Please contact us to discuss the most updated rates.

Q: Do you offer screenings?

We offer a free 15 minute phone screening and/or consultation.  At this time, we will discuss any questions or concerns that you may have and whether or not a further evaluation is recommended. You may opt for an in-person screening (typically 30 minutes) with or without a report for an additional fee.  Screeners are not reimbursable by insurance companies regardless if you provide a super bill or not.

Q: What will the evaluation process be like?

The evaluation will typically begin with some free play for the therapists to observe and build rapport.  The therapists will then begin the assessment with the child.  Some children will need a snack or play break more than others, which we are happy to provide.  After the evaluation, a written report will be provided within two weeks of the assessment, with a phone call to go over results.

Q: How do I initiate services?

If you are interested in services, please contact us to discuss your specific concerns, the needs of your child, what services you may be interested in and to answer any questions you may have.  Prior to your or your child’s first diagnostic or therapy session, you will be asked to complete specific background forms to help us develop an individualized plan tailored to your needs or the needs of your child.

Q: How long before we see progress?

This is a common question and the reality is that it varies from individual to individual.  Factors that may influence progress is the client's attendance, caregiver/family support, client motivation, ability to follow the home program, and severity of the initial difficulties.

Q: What are your qualifications?

Our speech/language and occupational therapists hold a master's and are licensed in California.  Our speech/language therapists hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (i.e., ASHA), while our OT's hold a national certification obtained by passing an exam administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
